What are excitotoxins? They are food additives that over stimulate the neurons of the brain causing brain damage.


Have you ever felt like when you are eating unhealthy foods, you could not stop eating them?????  You have eaten enough food, but your brain says you are still hungry. The link between obesity and these artificial preservatives is very strong. Excitotoxins harm the normal function of the brain that disrupts the appetite control system. In addition to overeating these ingredients damage brain cells and interfere with the central nervous system and hormonal system.

Excitotoxins are in foods people eat everyday such as diet sodas, packaged foods, gum and much more!  They contain MSG (Monosodium glutamate) and/or aspartame. MSG reads many ways on a food label such as monosodium, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, sodium caseinate, yeast extract and more!  Food additives that frequently contain MSG are malt extract, bouillon, broth, natural flavors, spices and many more! Aspartame is in diet drinks, diet sodas, sugar free foods, gum, children’s medications and many more. On another note, aspartame turns to formaldehyde in your body!

    Very interesting blog post! The USDA is seeking public opinion by October 12th regarding changes to the approved list of food ingredients that would stop the use of synthetic and chemical-based ingredients. There’s an alternative to mono & diglycerides and it’s a “rice bran extract”. Please send your comments on why organics should replace synthetic ingredients on this approved list.
